This 18-day itinerary covers almost all “Highlights of Peru”, after landing at Lima International airport you will have smooth and safe tourist-coach rides through the Pan American highway to visit the beautiful Ballestas Islands, have a flight over the enigmatic Nazca Lines, explore the beautiful colonial city of Arequipa, travel through the Andes to Colca canyon, reach Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, and cross the Altiplano region towards the Inca city of Cusco, the base town to explore Machu Picchu and the sacred valley of the Incas.

Day 1: Arrive in Lima

Once your flight lands at Jorge Chavez International airport, follow the signs to immigration and then to customs. After exiting customs, you will be in the International arrivals area where you are met by our representative, who will be holding a sign with your name, and driven to your hotel located in Miraflores area, one of the safest and nicest neighborhoods of Lima.
Upon arrival at your hotel, our English Speaking Staff will welcome you and assist you with all you may need.

Day 2: Tourist bus ride Lima - Paracas

Early morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the bus terminal to embark on a smooth three-hour tourist bus journey through the Pan American Highway to Paracas bay.

Upon arrival at Paracas bus stop you will be welcomed by our representative and driven to your hotel located a few steps from the ocean.
Free afternoon to rest or explore Paracas bay.

Day 3: Speedboat trip to Ballestas Islands

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel, driven to Paracas pier and set off on a two-hour speedboat guided adventure, which will take you through the blue waters of Paracas bay to the beautiful Ballestas Islands, home to many sea birds, impressive colonies of sea lions and a few Humboldt Penguins.
On the way to the island, you will have great views of the mysterious Candelabra, a prehistoric geoglyph which is almost 650 feet long, carved into a hill and still an unsolved mystery!

After your boat trip, you will be driven to your hotel and then to the bus stop to embark on a smooth four-hour tourist bus journey through the Pan American Highway to Nasca city.

Tourist bus ride Paracas - Nasca
Upon your arrival at Nasca bus station you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel located in the center of the city.

Day 4: Flight over Nasca Lines

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Nasca airport to embark on a 35-minute flight over the mysterious  Nasca Lines.
After your flight over the Nazca lines, you will be driven back to your hotel and have free time until your tranfer to the bus station.
Afternoon tourist bus ride Nasca - Arequipa
After lunch, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the bus station to embark on a smooth ten-hour tourist bus journey through the Pan American Highway to Arequipa city.

Upon your arrival at Arequipa bus station you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel located in the center of the city.

Day 5: Arequipa

Today you will have free time to explore Arequipa highlights like the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, Santa Catalina Monastery. Or just rest and adjust to the altitude.

Day 6: Trip to Colca Valley

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel, join your tour group and embark on an amazing five-hour bus trip to the Andean village of Chivay located in the Colca Valley and very close to the Colca Canyon.
Besides the great tour explanations of your English speaking Guide, crossing through Pampa Cañahua Park offers you unique views of the most spectacular Andean Volcanoes like Misti, Chachani and Ampato.
Your tour includes several stops on the way, so you will have many chances to take pictures of the South American Camelids like Vicuñas, Alpacas, Llamas and probably Guanacos and Vizacachas.
After enjoying the amazing landscape, you will arrive in the nice village of Chivay, where a delicious buffet lunch will be ready.
After lunch, you will have time to rest and relax.

Day 7: Flight of Condors over Colca Canyon - Arequipa

After an early breakfast, you will rejoin your tour group and set off on a great adveture in the Colca Valley, you will be driven to the Cruz del Condor cliff top observation point and enjoy the breathtaking flight of the majestic Condors!
After the Condor's show, you will continue enjoying views of the deepest canyon of the world, its Andean terraces, which have been used by the local farmers since pre-Incan times. We continue our way visiting Quechua villages and have views of some Pre-Inca Tombs.
After lunch, we drive back to Arequipa. You will be dropped off back at your hotel.

Day 8: Tourist bus ride Arequipa - Puno

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the bus station to embark on a smooth five-hour tourist bus journey through the Altiplano region to Puno city.

Upon your arrival at Puno bus station you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel located in the center of the city.

Day 9: Boat trip on Lake Titicaca and Homestay at Amantani Island

After Breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Puno pier to embark on a lifetime adventure on Lake Titicaca. Our first stop will be the floating Totora reed Islands of The Uros here you will see how these pre-Incan people live and learn about their ancient customs and traditions.
We continue our journey through the lake towards Amantani Island, where you will spend the night with an Aymara family and learn about this unique pre-Inca culture.

Day 10: Taquile Island. Puno

After breakfast, your Lake Titicaca adventure continues onto Taquile Islands, here you will interact with the locals and learn more about Inca’s culture and traditions. Their lifestyle remains the same as it has been for centuries, the inhabitants of this island are very famouos because of their beautiful textiles and some of the best handicraft in the Inca region.
In the afternoon, we will return to Puno pier, from where you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 11: Tourist bus ride Puno - Cusco

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the bus station to board the tourist bus to Cusco and have one of the most fabulous journeys with spectacular views of the Andes Mountains and countryside. The bus journey includes visits to Andahuaylillas, Raqchi, La Raya and Pukara.

Upon arrival at Cusco bus station you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Day 12: Guided tour of Cusco and nearby Inca Ruins

Free morning at your leisure.
This afternoon, you are picked up from your hotel and join your tour group to visit the beautiful city of Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site! You start with a smooth walk to the main attractions of this Inca city, its main square known as Plaza de Armas, then the Cusco Cathedral which construction started in 1559 and has an impressive unique collection of more than 400 paintings from Cusco school made during the 16th and 17th century. Next, you walk through the narrow Inca streets close the Plaza and appreciate the massive Inca walls which are the foundations of Cusco city.
Your tour includes a visit to the most impressive Inca temples, Koricancha, which is known as the temple of the sun. During the Inca time, the walls of this temple were lined in sheets of solid gold and its courtyard was decorated with statues and ornaments of gold! You tour includes a visit to Santo Domingo Church built by the Spanish colonists.

After visiting the city of Cusco we will head to Sacsayhuaman, an amazing Inca fortress which main walls perfectly fitted, were built with massive stones. You will learn more about the Incas’ secrets, we continue to Qenko, site of carved living rock then to Puca Pucara, an Inca lodging Site and finally Tambo Machay, known as the Baths of the Inca. At the end you will have an amazing view of the Inca city and surrounding areas.

Day 13: Sacred Valley tour. Train ride to Machu Picchu

After breakfast, you are picked up from your hotel and join your tour group to start an exciting guided adventure in the sacred valley of the Incas!
Your tour starts with a smooth drive to the valley of the Incas, on the way you will enjoy the stunning views of snow-capped mountains, green hills, and the beautiful fields of Giant corns, potatoes, beans and wheat.
Your guide will show you the highlights of the Inca Ruins of Pisac and then continue with a visit to the famous Pisac Market, here you can see the local families selling their products and handicraft. The trip includes visits to Quechua colorful villages like Yucay and Ollantaytambo where you will be able to interact with the locals and learn about their ancient customs and traditions.
After lunch, your guide will show you the amazing Inca site of Ollantaytambo, here the Incas made one of their last stands against the Spanish.
Afternoon train to Machu Picchu Pueblo
Upon arrival at Machu Picchu train station, you will be welcomed by your hotel staff and escorted to your hotel.

Day 14: Machu Picchu Private Tour

After breakfast, you will be met by your guide and take a 25 minute bus journey to Machu Picchu where your private English speaking guide will embark you on an adventure of a lifetime that brings you back to the 15th century.
You will explore the most majestic Icon of the Inca civilization, walk through its narrow streets, learn about the history of this site, life of the Incas, and why it is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World!
You will have free time to continue exploring the amazing architectural structures of Machu Picchu and enjoy the wonderful views of the Incas’ world.
After visiting Machu Picchu, you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have lunch before boarding the train to Cusco.
Afternoon: Train journey to Cusco
Upon arrival at the train station, you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Day 15: Flight Cusco - Puerto Maldonado - Posada Amazonas

Please notice your Amazon adventure starts today. It is recommended to pack, in duffel bags or one suitcase, only what you will need during your Amazon trip, your excess luggage will be stored in the office of Rainforest Expeditions in Puerto Maldonado.

After breakfast, you are picked up from your hotel and transported to Cusco airport to board your morning flight to Puerto Maldonado city, the starting point of your Adventure in the Amazon rainforest.
Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport, you are met by our representative, who will be holding a sign with your name, and driven to Rainforest Expeditions office, where you will register, enjoy a refreshing fruit drink and leave your excess luggage in the office storage, until your return to the airport to board your flight to Cusco. Then you will be driven to Tambopata River port, located 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Puerto Maldonado, in the native community of El Infierno. From here you travel by boat through Tambopata River for almost 1 hour upstream to Posada Amazonas Lodge.

Upon arrival at Posada Amazonas, the lodge staff will welcome you and provide you with an introductory briefing and security tips.

Canopy Tower
This afternoon you will have a 20-minute walk to an observation tower and have the chance to enjoy amazing views of the Amazon treetops, Tambopata River, monkeys, flocks of parrots flying and even a few macaws and toucans!
In the evening you can attend a lecture about ecotourism given by a Posada Amazonas Staff.

Day 16: Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake - Parrot Clay Lick - Ethnobotanical Tour

This morning you set off on a thirty-minute boat ride and then have a walk for almost forty-five minutes to Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake into Tambopata National Reserve. You will enjoy a great day on board a catamaran searching for the Giant River Otters, Caimans, Hoatzin, horned screamers and birds.
Your morning continues with a birdwatching activity, a twenty-minute walk from Posada Amazonas will lead you to a Parrot Clay Lick; from a blind located only twenty meters from the Clay Lick, you will observe parrots and parakeets eating the clay on a river bank, however there is a chance to see other birds like Mealy and Yellow- headed Amazon, Blue-headed Parrot and Dusky headed Parakeet.

After lunch, you will embark on a twenty-minute boat ride down river to Ñape Center, a communal organization that uses rainforest plants for healing many diseases. You will visit the community garden of medicinal plants and learn about the different treatments for diseases like cancer.
In the evening, you may have a hike in the forest to look for frogs and some mammals.

Day 17: Posada Amazonas - Puerto Maldonado. Flight to Lima

After breakfast, we retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado city. After collecting your suitcases or backpacks from Rainforest Expeditions office, you will be driven to Puerto Maldonado airport to board your flight to Lima.
Upon arrival at Lima airport you will be transferred to your hotel located in the cosmopolitan district of Miraflores.  You will have time to rest and relax.

Day 18: Lima Tour

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to join your tour group and be driven to the city of the Kings where you will see beautiful monuments Colonial Palaces, Colonial houses adorned with Moorish-style balconies, Plaza San Martin, Plaza de Armas, the baroque cathedral, Palacio de Gobierno (Governors Palace), the Archbishop's Palace with its big carved wooden balconies, and the convent of San Francisco which houses the largest collection of religious art in the Americas. Underneath the convent lie extensive catacombs that served as the cemetery during the colonial period!
Flight back home
You will be picked up from Miraflores center and transferred to the airport to board your flight back home.
