Day 1: Lima

Upon arrival at Lima international airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your Hotel located in Miraflores, the safest and nicest area of Lima.

Day 2: Flight Lima - Cusco (11,150 ft)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport to board your early morning flight to Cusco.
Upon arrival at Cusco airport you will be met by our representative and driven to your hotel located in the center of Cusco.
You will have time to rest and adjust to the altitude. In the evening, you will have your briefing meeting before starting the trek to Choquequirao!

Day 3: Cusco

Free morning to explore Cusco
Afternoon: Guided tour of Cusco and nearby Inca Ruins.
14:00: this afternoon your guide will pick you up from your hotel and show you the highlights of Cusco, the colonial cathedral, the great temple of Korikancha and the 4 impressive Inca ruins around Cusco: Sacsayhuaman, with its massive walls, Qenko, site of carved living rock, Puca Pucara, an Inca lodging Site and Tambo Machay, known as the Baths of the Inca. You will learn more about the Incas’ secrets!

Day 4: Cusco – Cachora - Chiquisca

Very early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive to San Pedro de Cachora, a small Andean village located at 9,190 ft above sea level and three hour ride from Cusco, the start point of our trek to Choquequirao.
Upon arrival in San Pedro de Cachora we will meet our wranglers and have the equipment and packs on mules and horses to start this unique and great adventure, today the hike will take approximately 8 hours!
After a 3-hour hike we will arrive at Capuliyoc pass which is located at 9,022 ft above sea level, here we will have amazing vistas of the Apurimac River and Canyon surrounded by majestic snow-capped mountains, but there is more we will have our first views of Choquequirao, the Craddle of gold.
After a consistent lunch, we continue our way to Chiquisca, our first campsite located at 6,530 ft above sea level, here we will spend our first night in our The North Face VE 25 Tents, tents will be set up by our crew (hiking time: approx 8 hours).

Day 5: Chiquisca – Santa Rosa - Maranpata

After an early energetic breakfast, we continue our hike to Choquequirao, today we will need to make our best effort; it may be the hardest part of the entire trek due to the downhill and uphill hikes!
Our first hours are easy, we will descend to Apurimac River which we will cross through its hanging bridge located at 5,085 ft above sea level, then we will start hiking uphill, after 2 hours of hike we will reach Santa Rosa located at 6,940 ft above sea level where we will take a break, we will have the chance to take pictures of orchides and Andean birds! We cannot spend much time here, because the Sun can make us feel extra tired!  We continue our uphill hike for extra 3 hours arriving in Maranpata located at 9,350 ft above sea level, this is the closest camp site to Choquequiraro (It is not possible to camp in Choquequirao). Here we will have our tents set up and enjoy a delicious lunch; then we will take a well-deserved rest, we will wait until the next morning to enjoy our visit to Choquequirao (hiking time: approx 7 hours).

Day 6: Maranpata – Choquequirao - Maranpata

It is time to visit Choquequirao, the last Refuge of the Inca Empire! After breakfast, we will have a two hour hike to Choquequirao located at 10,100 ft above sea level; here we will have a guided tour of this amazing Inca Complex which was never found by the Spanish Conquistadores!
After exploring the Craddle of gold we will return to Maranpata, our camp site where we will enjoy our dinner and spend the night in our tents (hiking time: approx 8 hours).

Day 7: Maranpata – Santa Rosa - Chiquisca

After Breakfast, we will start our hike back to Chiquisca descending to the Apurimac River, on the way we will pass through Santa Rosa, Playa Rosalina and then we will arrive in Chiquisca where we will have our tents set up and enjoy a delicious lunch; then we will take a well-deserved rest (hiking time: approx 6 hours).

Day 8: Chiquisca – Cachora - Cusco

After our last breakfast of the trek, we will start our hike back to San Pedro de Cachora passing through Capuliyoc Pass located at 9,560 ft above sea level arriving in Cachora in the afternoon; then we will have a short car journey to the thermal waters of Qonoq where we can refresh after these five days of hiking, then we will drive back to Cusco (hiking time: approx 8 hours).

Day 9: Flight Cusco – Lima

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport to board your morning flight to Lima.
Upon arrival at Lima airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Miraflores, the bustling, cosmopolitan area of the city from where you will start your afternoon Lima tour.
Lima Tour
After lunch, you will be driven downtown into the city of the Kings; your English speaking guide will show you the colonial houses adorned with Moorish-style balconies, Plaza San Martin, Plaza de Armas, the baroque cathedral, Palacio de Gobierno (Governors Palace), the Archbishop's Palace with its big carved wooden balconies, and the convent of San Francisco. Underneath the convent lie extensive catacombs that served as the cemetery for the whole of Lima during the colonial period!
Evening flight back home
You will be picked up from Miraflores center and transferred to the airport to board your flight back home.
